Dawn (or Hikari in Japan (ヒカリ)) is a new character in the Pokémon franchise, mainly as a companion to Ash Ketchum in the new Pokemon Series.Dawn is voiced by Megumi Toygouchi in Japanese and by Emily Jenness in the dub.
In the Animé
In the newest Pokémon series, Dawn acts as the second companion to Ash and Brock. She comes from Twinleaf Town in Sinnoh. She is inspired to be a Pokémon Co-Ordinator, as her Mother, Johanna, was once the best Co-Ordinator and had won the Grand Festival. This is the reason Dawn wishes to be a Pokémon Co-Ordinator.
Her debut came across when she found an injured Pikachu lying on the road. She thought it was wild so she tried catching it. Trying to defend itself from Dawn's Piplup, the Pikachu destroyed her bike (a running gag in Pokémon)
